Connor McDavid was absolutely unstoppable on Thursday night, recording a hat trick and two assists as the Edmonton Oilers dominated the Florida Panthers 6-2 to take a commanding 3-1 series lead in the Stanley Cup Finals.
McDavid, who is widely considered the best player in the world, now has 11 goals and 17 assists in this year’s playoffs, shattering postseason records at a historic pace. His combination of speed, skill, and hockey intelligence was simply too much for the Panthers’ defense to contain.
Florida head coach Paul Maurice acknowledged McDavid’s brilliance but remained confident heading into Game 5. ‘We’ve been in tough spots before and found a way,’ Maurice said. ‘Our group has character and we’ll respond.’ The series resumes Monday night in Edmonton.
